As a child I have this vivid memory of watching the Field of Dreams with my grandfather and even visiting the original field with him on a vacation one summer. The famous line from the movie “If you build it, they will come” has been a constant reminder over the past 3 years as we purchased the amazing property in Severn Bridge and built the studio from the ground up. During the long days of drywalling, nailing, and painting we would often take a short break outside just to stare at the trees. It was during these breaks that Josh and I used to discuss our vision of one day hosting a festival at Pura Vida.
We always saw people teaching, musicians playing, and a high energy surrounding the whole event. In our minds, we always knew the festival would come to fruition but we thought it would be a few years out. However, like many other projects on the list, this festival is coming to light for the first time on Sunday, September 21, 2014!
With the guidance and encouragement of Elizabeth Castro-Giles of Dish-Licious, we have organized an outstanding group of stellar yoga instructors, qi gong teachers, ayurveda specialists, kids yoga leaders, massage therapists, natural health practitioners, spiritual guides, and many other absolutely amazing people from Simcoe and Muskoka!
This day of health, wellness, yoga and spiritual will feature 4 key ways to get involved:
- Workshops: 30 minute workshops will be held in an indoor and outdoor studios throughout the day offering a hands-on experience for adults and kids!
- Healing Garden: Sign-up to receive treatments, readings, or assessments one-on-one with professionals ranging from massage therapists, to reflexologists, and psychics!
- Vendor Village: Wander the vendor village to check out local crafts and artisans
- Live Music: Take a break to relax under the trees and enjoy soothing local music
To celebrate the first year of this event, admission will be FREE to the public. Anyone interested in participating in workshops will be encouraged to make a small cash donation ($5 suggested) that will go to the Youth @ Heart Drop-In Centre held each week at the Gravenhurst Opera House. This program is absolutely amazing and has a vision of helping youth build healthy lifestyles from a physical, mental, and emotional perspective through the arts.
We are overwhelmed by the number of teachers, healers, and professionals in our community who have already committed to make this event a transformative day for everyone! Now we need your help to share the good word about this event and invite others to join us in celebration! Please share, post, and chat about this event with your friends, family, coworkers, neighbours, or even strangers! Everyone is welcome…you do not need to a be a tree-hugging, vegan, yogi to enjoy this event. We are going to have fun for everyone…even if you still love sugary donuts, a good beer, or chicken fingers 😉 (Yes…sometimes yoga teachers like to enjoy a treat or glass of wine too! We’ll save that for another post!).
